Dog Areas in Riley

Riley is a tiny unincorporated community in northern Illinois -- its population is so small that it isn’t even listed on census data! Although Riley itself doesn’t offer many dog-friendly activities, there are fortunately over twenty veterinarians available within a fifteen-minute radius of town. Also, Riley is close to many amenities in neighboring communities.

A popular park can be found twenty miles east of Riley: Lake in the Hills Dog Park. This off-leash park offers lots of shade and drinking water. You do have to purchase a permit to use this park, but the fee ensures this ten-acre oasis is kept safe and clean.

Schweitzer Woods Forest Preserve is located thirty minutes southeast in Dundee, IL. Off-leash play is welcome at this five-acre preserve full of grassy spaces and wooded paths. There is a fenced trail for off-leash hiking as well as water available.

Two dog-friendly restaurants can be found just ten minutes northeast in Marengo, IL. Joe’s Place is known for its pulled pork sandwich, but also serves lasagna, hot dogs, ribs, and more. Cafe 20 serves pub-style appetizers and a variety of sandwiches and build-your-own burgers. Both restaurants offer pup-friendly tables outside, so don’t be afraid to bring Fido.

Get out there and enjoy everything Riley and its surrounding community has to offer -- your pup will thank you!
