Bywater
The Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans is about 20 minutes from Terrytown and just minutes from the French Quarter of New Orleans. This neighborhood’s Crescent Park is the perfect place for your dog to play and socialize. Located right on the Mississippi River, the fenced park has plenty of space for your pooch to run, and you can even explore with your leashed dog outside of the dog area. Bywater has several dog-friendly dining opportunities as well, like Pizza Delicious, which offers custom pizzas with tons of topics to choose from. Paw-friendly tables are located outside with an excellent view of the neighborhood!

Lower Garden District
The Lower Garden District of New Orleans is just about 4 miles from Terrytown. This area has several dog-friendly hotels to stay in if you’re just visiting. If a fun, but frightening, experience is your thing, head to Ghost City Tours with your pup. All the tours are dog-friendly! The area also has a Pet Care Center that specializes in grooming and daycare for pampered pooches. And, you’ll find plenty of dog-friendly dining in the neighborhood, like the pupular Legacy Kitchen Craft Tavern that has dog-friendly seating along the sidewalk. If the catch of the day is what you’re after, try Grand Isle for some delicious, local seafood with your pooch.

French Quarter
New Orleans is just a drive away from Terrytown, LA, and one of its most popular neighborhoods – the French Quarter – will only take you about 15 minutes to drive to. This area is home to Louis Armstrong Park, a gorgeous outdoor retreat with picnic areas, a duck pond, and plenty of grass for you and your leashed dog to explore. The French Quarter shopping area is also a must-see. This is the oldest area of New Orleans and offers some of the area’s best shops, dining spots, music, events, and more – and your dog is welcome to join you for a stroll as you take in some New Orleans culture.

The Maplewood neighborhood of Harvey, LA, is about 10 minutes away from Terrytown and sits near the Mississippi River section that runs through the state. This area has its own PETCO, which is known for all of its pawsome goodies for your dog, from treats to grooming supplies. Your well-behaved dog is welcome to join you as you shop! West Riverside
West Riverside is another pup-friendly spot in New Orleans, located about 8 miles from Terrytown, LA. Wisner Dog Park is a cozy spot to bring your pup. The park has shaded areas and plenty of grass for him to romp around on with his pals. At Canine Connection, you can also bring your dog to socialize and play in one of several indoor or outdoor play areas (it’s like a gym for dogs!). Locals and tourists love PJ’s Coffee & Tea Co., which sits close to the Mississippi River and offers dog-friendly outdoor seating for you and your beloved pooch.
