About half an hour from the Twin Cities, Mahtomedi is a “small-town city” that hugs the eastern shore of White Bear Lake. Originally founded as a Chautauqua community, Mahtomedi used to be a very popular summer destination. There are no veterinary hospitals in Mahtomedi, but nearby facilities in neighboring White Bear Lake, Saint Paul, and Stillwater are only less than 10 minutes away by car.

Doggos are welcome at Mahtomedi's parks and trails as long as they remain on a 6-foot leash and are cleaned up after, so leash up and take Fido for a walk at Southwest Park! Spanning 16 acres, this park offers wide open fields and picnic tables. The fields are used for softball, baseball, and soccer, so you and your pooch might see the local kids playing while you're strolling around.

From Southwest Park, you and Fido can take a short drive or walk to Katherine Abbott Park, which is about half a mile away. This 76-acre site comprises tall pines, serene ponds, and varied terrain. There are also 3 miles of trails to explore, making it a pawfect place to spend time in nature with your pup.
