Golf Ridge Terrace is a mostly residential neighborhood located a 10-minute commute west of Las Vegas, Nevada’s central business district. There are several local commercial businesses along the east side commercial corridor that residents can walk to and access shops and services, including the VCA Decatur Animal Hospital. There is also a unique pet supply store, Organic Doggie Treats, located on Vegas Drive just north of the community.

Las Vegas has some extreme temperatures that can affect pedestrian and pet travel. Temperatures in the summer are very hot and heat can result in illness if you or your pet becomes overexerted. Try walking your dog early or later in the day when it is cooler, take shorter excursions in hot weather, and pack lots of water for you and your pooch. The good news is that Las Vegas is usually sunny with very few overcast days and little rain. Winters are mild, although the temperatures do cool off significantly at night.

Golf Ridge Terrace is bordered by Decatur Boulevard on the east side, Michael Way on the west, Washington Avenue on its south border, and Vegas Drive on the north. The terrain in Golf Ridge Terrace has some gentle inclines, but no steep hills that people and pets would overexert themselves on which could be problematic on hot summer days.

Most of the neighborhood is residential with moderate, ranch style, and bungalow homes. Properties are landscaped and maintained with drought tolerant, desert-friendly plants. There are sidewalks along the quiet residential streets, creating safe, separate walkways for you and your dog to use while strolling the neighborhood.

A warehouse is situated on the northeast corner and there are some businesses mostly concentrated on the east side of the area. While residential roads are very peaceful with little traffic, the borders have main thoroughfares with more congestion. When crossing the borders of Golf Ridge Terrace, keep your dog securely leashed.

Ed Fountain Park is located on the east side of Gold Ridge Terrace and can be easily accessed on foot by people and pets. This developed recreational greenway has sports fields, a BMX racing track, a pavilion, picnic sites, a playground, a basketball court, open communal spaces, and paved walking paths. You can take a stroll through the park with your leashed pup, but should be prepared to clean up after them. Be aware that when sports events are taking place, it can be very busy with lots of traffic accessing the parking lots.

A short distance to the southeast, you and your dog can walk on over to the Lorenzi Park. This greenway has a pond and open green spaces, laced with walking paths to enjoy with your leashed pet. There is a playground, water features, picnic and shade pavilions, tennis courts, baseball fields, and a band shell where local concerts and performances take place.
