Clinton Hill is a charming neighborhood in Brooklyn. It is bordered by Boerum Hill and Bedford and the Brooklyn Navy Yard is at its northern perimeter. This area was first settled in the 1640s when Dutch colonists laid out farms here. It was soon developed by affluent families who built mansions in the area since they could easily commute to Manhattan by stagecoach or ferry. It was considered a quiet, family area that was still near the heart of the city.

In the 1900s, upscale apartment buildings replaced most of the mansions in this area, but there are still many historic buildings to lend a timeless feel to this area. If Fido is in need of some training, the nearby Brooklyn Pup Dog Training is a great place for them to go. Rikke B. Dog Training is another great option for training your dog. For high quality grooming, My Two Dogs is not far.

This is an interesting area to explore with gorgeous historic buildings around every corner. Buildings are generally spaced closely or flush and short stoops open right onto the sidewalk. Although there are many mature trees, there is no divider between sidewalk and road, so walking through this neighborhood feels a little tight.

Some apartment buildings are clustered around parks with walking trails where your dog can enjoy a slightly looser leash. The area around the Pratt Institute offers pleasant sidewalks to walk beneath lots of tree cover with limited car traffic.

There are several parks nearby that your dog will enjoy including Fort Greene Park with wide open grassy areas that are perfect for an on-leash game of frisbee. The marina provides some interesting areas for you and your dog to explore, offering a lot of varied smells and diverse surroundings to give your city dog some variety in her experience.
