East Flatbush is an area of Brooklyn, New York City. It is a largely residential neighborhood, home to a range of people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. The area is often combined with neighboring Flatbush and, just like with many communities in Brooklyn, its boundaries are regularly debated. For the purposes of definition, Empire Boulevard can be described as its northern border with Crown Heights located to the north as well. To the east you have Brownsville and Canarsie which are defined by Rockaway Parkway and Avenue D. To the south, Avenue H marks the defining border between East Flatbush and Flatlands while Flatbush Ditmas Park can be found to the west.

Bone A Boutique Pet Spa is a great place to pamper your pup and is located on Nostrand Avenue, just within the borders of East Flatbush. Similarly, Furry Paws and Claws Pet Salon can be found in the northwest of the area.

The terrain in East Flatbush is solely artificial, just as you would expect in any major city borough. Therefore, if the natural terrain is what you’re after, you’ll have to travel outside the area’s boundaries in order to reach the grassy hills and sandy plains. Despite this, there are some positives to its largely built-up feel. There is no need for special walking gear when you’re taking your pooch out for a stroll as any shoes will do. You’re also never far from a spot where you can take a rest and grab a coffee.

East Flatbush is, unsurprisingly, pretty flat. You shouldn’t come across any hills that will even cause you to break a sweat, so the terrain is ideal for those of all fitness levels. If you fancy getting your pup’s heart rate up, instead of climbing a steep incline, why not try jogging or running in order to challenge yourself and your puppy pal?

East Flatbush is incredibly limited in terms of greenways. There really isn’t a large selection to choose from. For an escape from the usual sidewalk and tarmac views, try walking to Holy Cross Cemetery that can be found in the center of the area between Clarendon Road and Church Avenue. While it’s not necessarily the place for throw and catch, there are grassy areas for your pup and a quiet and peaceful vibe that can provide the perfect oasis on certain occasions. Please remember to be respectful of mourners and not to let your dog off the leash on the graves.

Paerdegat Park can be found just south of Foster Avenue. This tree-filled urban landscape can provide a more lively and lighthearted option for your daily strolls. It also includes a playground as well as sports courts, a walking path, and the opportunity to breathe in a little fresh air.
