College Point is a neighborhood located in the Bronx in New York City. It is situated just eastwards of East Elmhurst, another prominent community in the area which can be reached by crossing the Flushing Bay waterway. North of College Point is the coastline of the East River and, if you head south from the neighborhood, you’ll encounter the Whitestone Expressway and the large industrial area that is home to the New York Times Distribution Center. Clearview and Malba are located just east of College Point.

You’re never short of amenities in College Point. It’s a well-stocked area in that regard. College Point Animal Hospital can be found on College Point Boulevard. Its centrally located, so it’s easy to access from anywhere in the neighborhood! Lola’s Grooming Salon can be found on the same road, just further south. For pet care supplies, Petco is located on 20th Avenue, providing you with everything you need.

There are a few moderate hills in College Point, but it will never be described as a particularly mountainous area. The coast offers the most low-lying terrain but if you head inland, you’ll encounter a slight rise up towards 12th Avenue. This is fairly minor and it should not impact your walk in any way. If you don’t fancy any sort of gradient at all, stick to the coastline.

College Point is primarily residential terrain while the south is home to distribution centers that give it a more industrial feel. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely you’ll encounter natural terrain in this part of New York unless, of course, you count the East River! There are some greenways nearby which can be classed as more natural. However, these are mostly inner-city parks which are far from the true wilderness. Head over to one of the city's larger greenways for the chance to feel truly immersed in nature.

There are a couple of coastal parks in College Point which are a great option if you’re looking for a sea breeze and a dose of natural surroundings. Try heading to Hermon A. MacNeil Park on the northern tip of the neighborhood. Locals love the views over the water and how clean and family-friendly the vibes are.

Alternatively, head to the eastern side and you’ll find Powell’s Cove Park. This stunning grassy greenway is set right within a little nook in the land, so views from the coast show the bay shoreline as it curves around. It is pure tranquility, especially as you enter the forested area. It’s ideal for those who are wanting a little peace and quiet or those with dogs that prefer not to socialize with their fellow canines.

Frank Golden Park is located just a street away. This is an inland option which is ideal for those in the east area of College Point.
