Walking along the neighborhood streets of Belle Harbor is very pleasant, with the wide grassy lawns and homes set well back from the road. You can get sea breezes or the wind off of the bay throughout most of Belle Harbor, especially since the straight streets are thoroughfares for breezes to pass down. You will love skateboarding, rollerblading, or bicycling down these long straight sidewalks, and the mature tree cover will feel pleasant on hot summer days.
The streets of Belle Harbor empty onto the beach, where you and your dog will doubtless spend a large amount of your walking time. Walking on the high resistance and low impact surface of the beach is excellent for your dog's joints, while exploring the beach will always bring you something new to discover as the ocean washes up new things. For even more challenging walking for your dog, encourage your dog to wade through the shallow water on hot days with low waves.
The bayside does not offer as much in terms of green space, but there is one green strip where you can walk along the water of the bay with your dog on the grass. A couple of simple benches are provided to rest in this area.
