Fresh Meadows is a charming little neighborhood in the northeastern area of Queens. About half of this neighborhood is composed of attractive single-family homes, generally one to two stories. There is a good grassy space between the road and the sidewalk and most houses are well set back with large grassy yards that are not fenced in front. Large, mature trees are regularly spaced along most roads so that you feel like you are walking through a pleasant park environment.

The other half of Fresh Meadows is made up of two-story brick apartment buildings with lots of green space around them. These planned communities are organized to allow for a forest feel between buildings so that you can't even see one building from another in many places due to the thick tree cover.

There are lots of walking trails to this part of Fresh Meadows where there is no traffic, so you can enjoy walking your dog on a longer leash without worrying about traffic.

Fresh Meadows is a relatively flat neighborhood composed of about half individual family homes and about half apartment buildings. On the half of the neighborhood that is composed of detached homes, walking is pleasant on spacious sidewalks that are set back from the road by grassy and tree-studded dividers. Most homes don't have front fences, so you can enjoy letting your dog walk on a looser leash.

With its long straight roads and plenty of space on either side, this can be a great neighborhood for enjoying a ride on wheels with your dog. In the half of the neighborhood that is composed of apartment buildings, paths that do not allow for vehicle traffic nearby can give you the opportunity to ride a bike or other device freely without worrying about cars.

For a more natural experience, there is a forested park right across the border of Fresh Meadows, on either side of Francis Lewis Boulevard, but primarily on the farther side from Fresh Meadows.

Walking through the neighborhood of Fresh Meadows can provide a pleasant, green feeling experience with the many grassy lawns and the abundance of mature trees. If you are looking for a more adventurous natural experience, just go towards Francis Lewis Boulevard and walk along the pleasant paths through the forest around here.

There is thick forest on both sides of Francis Lewis Boulevard, with the bulk of the forest being on the far side. The forest is intersected by Cunningham Park field and a variety of other sports fields.

While players will probably not want you and your dog on their fields, you can walk along the perimeter for the enjoyable experience of walking in the sunshine on a cold day. Walking through the forest is the perfect adventure for windy days or hot days when you don't want to be in the sunshine.
