Murray Hill is bordered by Midtown and St. Vartan Park, settled very near the East River. It is filled with attractive townhomes and tall apartment buildings. Wide sidewalks are heavily trafficked with pedestrians and the streets are busy, so you will find yourself walking your dog on a close leash throughout most of the area in order to avoid being in the way.

St. Vartan Park provides a pleasant retreat from the city streets, with several tree-lined walking trails as well as a ball field. This park is not large and not great to do much extensive walking with your dog, but it is a good opportunity to let her be on a loose leash. On the Riverside across FDR Drive, there is a lovely little park called Glick Park along the East River Esplanade. This Esplanade provides an extended path that is separated from traffic so that you can enjoy bicycling, rollerblading, skateboarding, at your dog's side.

Most of Murray Hill is heavily trafficked city streets with tall apartment buildings and busy sidewalks. To get away from the city streets, you can head towards the river and Glick Park. This charming park will give you and your dog the opportunity to relax and stretch your legs along this lovely path that provides you with gorgeous views and cool breezes from the river. Lots of tree cover will keep you shaded as well and make this feel like a pleasant place to be with your dog.

St. Vartan Park does not provide much in the way of exploration for your pooch, but it is a chance to enjoy being in the shade and take a rest on a bench.

At the other side of Murray Hill, Bryant Park provides pleasant walking paths as well as a gorgeous, wide grassy area where you can enjoy playing a game of fetch or ball with your dog. Just be careful not to interfere with any of the sunbathers!

While Murray Hill is mostly urban, there are chances to get away from the city streets and enjoy some greenery. Bryant Park offers walking trails under mature tree cover. The thick ring of trees around a grassy center provides insulation from the noise of the city so that being in the center of the park is very pleasant and relaxing. This area is not large enough to support much wildlife, but you have a great chance of seeing more common city wildlife like squirrels, pigeons, and the peregrine falcons that feed on them. In the evening, you may also see raccoons or foxes.

St. Vartan Park also provides a small tree-filled escape from the city. Glick Park is on the water, and is a wonderful place to stroll and relax with your dog. While the shoreline is not natural, you still have a great chance of seeing all kinds of wildlife along the water line.
