The Theater District is the heart of New York City, including Times Square. This is one of the most famous and most crowded areas of New York City, and frequently has events going on. There are always people milling around the square taking pictures with the characters that present themselves. The blocks surrounding the square are also extremely busy with high-end restaurants and shops.

Walking through this area with your dog can be challenging if your dog has any anxiety around people. It is best to work up to an area this crowded with your dog, and you should handle your dog on a harness if possible, since you are likely to have to pull her around a lot as you shove through the thick crowds.

For well-socialized dogs who enjoy lots of stimulus, this can be an exciting place to explore. Lots of milling tourists mean that your dog has a good chance of getting a pat, and the constantly changing smells are sure to interest even the most jaded hound.

The wide streets of the Theater District are crowded with people and most areas do not have any division between the sidewalk and the street. Indeed, in many areas, people casually walk onto the street as well as on the sidewalk, and traffic does run very slow in this area. This is a good place to practice a consistent 'heel' with your dog, as your dog will feel the instinct to stay close to you in this extremely crowded area.

This district is too crowded for most wheeled devices. You may get away with riding your bike with your dog if your dog is excellent at staying right next to the bike, but this is probably not the best place for that kind of activity.

To get some relief from the constant asphalt and crowds, you can visit Bryant Park. With its wide expanses of grass, tall mature trees, and flexible seating options, this is a wonderful place to take a break and relax with your dog for a while and just enjoy feeling the grass under you.

Since most of the Theater District is so crowded, Bryant Park is a much-needed resting place if you are walking your dog in this area. Even the most well-socialized and socially confident dog will become exhausted by the constant stimulus, noise, smells, and activity of the Theater District.

Bryant Park offers a large grassy lawn where you can find a private place to relax with your dog. Tall mature trees provide shade and some fresh air, as well as a buffer from the noise of the street. Along with the grassy area, there are also paths through wooded areas with attractive ground covers that push in on the charmingly paved paths.

Clusters of chairs and small tables as well as benches in this area enable you to find somewhere to rest and relax in this part of the park, which feels like an airy forest.
