West Brighton is located on the Central North Shore of Staten Island. It borders Silver Lake Park on one side and Clove Lakes Park on another. This charming neighborhood is composed of primarily lovely single-family one or two story homes. These homes are usually well set back from the street, with wide grassy lawns and lovely landscaping. Sidewalks are wide and there is a large, grassy divider between sidewalk and street. Lots of mature trees grow in the yards and in the divider, for pleasantly dappled shade through most of West Brighton. These attractive and comfortable neighborhood streets are perfect to walk your dog on a loose leash or bicycle, skateboard, or rollerblade at his side.

While the neighborhood streets of West Brighton are very pleasant, there are lots of opportunities for you to get away from city walking and enjoy natural lakes and forest scenery as well, so be prepared for a few shifts in terrain from time to time.

Walking through the neighborhood streets of West Brighton is pleasant, with wide sidewalks and plenty of tree cover surrounding the attractive homes. While you will enjoy walking on these streets, you are likely to take advantage of some of the more diverse environments offered to you. Clove Lakes Park is right outside of West Brighton, and offers extensive walking trails through heavily forested areas. Three lakes link together to provide you with natural waterways. The forest pushes right up to the water and a lovely paved trail runs along the waterway, so that you can enjoy keeping your feet grounded on the trail while your dog explores the water's edge.

Silver Lake Park is a pleasant place for you to walk with your dog, as it even offers a dog run where your dog can socialize off leash with her friends. Walking along Silver Lake itself is also very pleasant, especially since the lake is wide enough to provide plenty of pleasant lake breezes.

West Brighton is rich in natural landscapes for you to enjoy with your dog. Silver Lake Park provides lots of wide open grassy areas with interspersed tree cover and a walking path along the lake so that you can enjoy beautiful views. There is plenty of green space here for you to throw a ball or play frisbee with your dog. You are likely to see waterfowl, especially migratory ducks and geese, in the large lake.

For a different experience, Clove Lakes Park offers walking trails through wild forested areas, as well as lovely lakes for you to explore with your dog. This forest is large enough to support some wildlife like foxes and raccoons and you are likely to see all kinds of residential and migratory bird life. If you want even more opportunities to explore, you can follow Clove Lakes Park to Deer Park and the extensive St. Francis forest and Todt Hill Woodlands.
