Bulls Head is a small neighborhood in central Staten Island, New York. It is home to Jewish, Asian-American, and Italian-American communities. The commercial area of the neighborhood, predominately located in the northeast section of the community, is home to many chain restaurants, churches, a public school, a bank, access to public transportation, and a local fire station. Shampooch NY, a groomer, and Pet Oasis II, a groomer and pet store, can both be found in Bulls Head. The residential areas of the neighborhood mostly consist of standalone, single-family houses.

Bulls Head will distinctly experience all four seasons. Temperatures can range from 0° - 100°F, depending on the time of year! You will want to bundle up in the winter months and avoid hot concrete on summer days. Remember to always check the daily forecast to help prepare for your pup's daily walk in order to prevent walking in poor or inclement weather.

Bulls Head is a largely artificial neighborhood which is what you might expect being so close to the Big Apple! However, there are some greenways in and around the neighborhood to balance all the concrete and steel. This area does have a few hills but they should not be too steep, so no walk should be too difficult for you and your pet.

The general borders of Bulls Head include Staten Island Expressway to the north, Willowbrook Park and CUNY College of Staten Island to the east, William T. Davis Wildlife Refuge to the south, and Graham Avenue and Staten Island Industrial Park to the west. Richmond Avenue and Arlene Street are other major roadways and may have more traffic than the more residential areas. Thankfully, the majority of the Bulls Head has nice wide sidewalks which are extremely important to maintaining a safe walking experience for both you and your dog!

Bulls Head has quite a few public greenways and surrounding it are even a few more. Father Macris Park can be found in the northern border of the neighborhood and is home to sports facilities, general recreation areas, and a dog-friendly area. Willowbrook Park in the southeast corner of the neighborhood is also home to a dog-friendly area, walking trails, sports facilities, general recreation areas, and a playground. These are great options if you are looking for a longer walk, off-leash time, or some more people watching!

Other greenways include William T. Davis Wildlife Refuge, Pondside Green Park, Staten Island Industrial Park, and a few unnamed greenways. Most of these parks also have walking trails if you are looking for a more natural escape from the typical NYC urban environment.

If you opt to remain in the residential areas of Bulls Head, there are still plenty of grassy spaces for a quick pitstop!
