Sharon Heights is a neighborhood located on the north side of Columbus, Ohio. Residents of this community can reach the Graceland Shopping Center on foot and various commercial business on High Street which runs north-south in the neighborhood. The shopping center has a large chain pet store you can visit with your pup and pick up some food, treats, or a doggie coat for cold Columbus winter days. There is also a school for the blind with sports fields and facilities in the neighborhood!

Although amenities are located conveniently nearby, Columbus weather is not always amenable to pedestrian travel. Winters are cold and snowy and good outerwear is required for daily walks with your canine companion. Summers are warm and usually not so hot that heat-related illnesses are a significant concern, providing reasonable precautions are taken. However, severe thunderstorms sometimes occur during this season and should be avoided.

A cemetery borders Sharon Heights on its north side and train tracks run along the east side of the neighborhood with Morse Road on the south. The river is the main landscape feature with a natural area, parks, and ravine along its east bank where Sharon Heights is situated.

There are some apartment and multi-family housing complexes in the area, however, most of the region is composed of single-family homes. These homes are moderate in size and older, however, properties are quite large, well spaced, set back, and with spacious backyards that back onto lanes and greenways. The district is well shaded and private properties have plenty of foliage and large lawns.

The ground is relatively level with only some slight inclines that do not present a problem for pedestrians and pets. The train track to the east can present an impediment and a hazard for dog walkers. Cross the tracks only at designated pedestrian crossings to stay safe!
