Rose City Park is a highly walkable neighborhood located in northeast Portland, Oregon. There are two main commercial corridors intersecting this mainly residential neighborhood and schools, churches, and businesses distributed throughout the area.

Sandy Boulevard and NE Halsey Street have many fast food eateries, restaurants, shops, convenience stores, and other services readily available within walking distance. There are some unique pet stores within walking distance for dog owners to obtain needed pet supplies.

The weather in Portland can be wet, especially in the spring, fall, and winter, so bring an umbrella out onto your daily strolls. Warm, waterproof gear will keep the chill out in winter months when temperatures cool significantly. Daytime winter temperatures are usually above freezing, however, and snow, when it does occur, does not stay long. Summers are warm, sunny, and usually very pleasant for walking with your pup with much less rain to get you and your pup wet!

Rose City Park is an established older neighborhood with a golf course on its east side and a cemetery on its north side proving large, manicured, landscaped areas on the borders. Interstate 84 is situated on the neighborhood's south border with NE 47th Avenue on the west, NE 65th Avenue on the east, and NE Fremont Street on the north.

The terrain is flat in the region and pedestrians do not have steep hills to climb. The neighborhood streets have separate sidewalks for pedestrians and pets and grassy berms provide soft footing for four-legged residents strolling the area. Many residential streets are narrower than average and older character homes are well maintained with beautiful yards, large shade trees, and lovely gardens that make the area very attractive.

There are two commercial corridors with heavier traffic to watch out for and three parks providing more green space. A statue of George Washington stands on Sandy Boulevard dating back to 1927.

Recreational facilities include a playground, sports fields, and tennis courts. Much of the park is accessible and friendly for people and pets with different mobility issues. Rose City Park is a perfect neighborhood park to visit with your pup.

Normandale Park is located in the south section of the community and features an enclosed 1.5-acre dog run. An off-leash area is a great place for your pup to play and there is a fresh water supply to keep your furry friend hydrated.  Normandale Park is 14 acres and has paved and unpaved walking trails, picnic sites, and lots of recreational fields and facilities.

Frazer Park is also located on the south side of the district and this smaller 3-acre park also features an off-leash area for your pooch.
