Overlook of Carriage Hills is a residential community located on the northwest side of San Antonio, Texas. This suburban neighborhood is about a 30-minute commute to the central business core of San Antonio. There are no local businesses or commercial areas, so residents have to drive to reach shops and restaurants.

Pet owners in Overlook of Carriage Hills enjoy warm weather throughout the year. Winters are cold, but rarely see sub-freezing temperatures or snow, so heavy winter gear is not required. Occasional freezing rain can make walkways treacherous. When this occurs, wait for surfaces to thaw before taking your dog out for a daily walk. Summer days are often extremely hot and humid and you will need to be careful on longer outings with your pup to avoid heat-related illnesses. Walk earlier or later the day to avoid the heat, pick shady green areas for strolls, and make sure you have a water supply on longer treks.

Overlook of Carriage Hills is a residential suburban neighborhood bordered by Babcock Road on the east side, Bamberger Way on the south, Maple Park Drive on the west, and the Hunters Chase neighborhood on the north.

The terrain is flat and there are no steep hills to climb on hot summer days or in slippery winter weather. Homes in the area are single-family detached dwellings that are attractively set on well landscaped properties. There are separate sidewalks in the neighborhood, creating safe pedestrian paths for people and pets to use while walking, so they do not have to share the road with local traffic. There are no main thoroughfares in the district and traffic is not a significant issue.

A natural open area on the southeast side of the community provides some green space nearby for playing with your pup and a large park on the east side provides more natural terrain and shady trees that add to the suburban character of the region.

The Bamberger Nature Park is located on the east side of the neighborhood and is easily accessible. There is a 2.5-mile paved trail in this park used by cyclists and pedestrians. There are lots of trees and shrubs in the park that provide shelter and shade from the hot sun.

The Leon Creek Greenway extends to the north and has 18 miles of hard surface multi-use trails.
