Wag! Walkers know Angels Isle
If ever there was a perfect place for a dog lover to have a home, it would have to be the small community of Angels Isle on the west bank of the Banana River. In the City of Cape Canaveral, most city parks are open to dogs who are on a leash. Angels Isle sits in between the two biggest parks in town, both of which have a lot to offer you, your dog, and your entire family!
Having your home here puts you in the last residential community to the north. Everything further is hotels, a few small businesses like restaurants, gas stations, or the ports which several cruise lines call home. If you need to go grocery shopping, you're in for a ten to fifteen-minute drive south on A1A, the busiest highway in town. There, you will find supermarkets and shopping centers that have everything you are likely to need.
What is the terrain like in Angels Isle?
The community of Angels Isle sits at the very end of West Central Boulevard where it joins with A1A. At your end of the road, traffic is generally only residential. However, West Central also feeds the two parks and two large townhome and condo communities. This makes West Central Boulevard a bustling road at times during the day.
Thankfully, there are paved sidewalks the two of you can use. They are set back with a grass berm to help protect the two of you from the traffic. You can even use the sidewalks to walk to both parks that are your next-door neighbors!
While traffic never seems to be overly busy, the best time of day for you and your pup to walk along the roads is in the early morning hours. If you go out before rush hour begins, not only will you have less traffic to deal with, but the air is a lot cooler than it will be by midday.
How many greenways are there in Angels Isle?
Directly to the north of Angel Isles is Banana River Park. This vast park is mostly grass with room for a soccer pitch at the north end, shuffleboard courts, and a 9-hole putting green to the south. There are public restrooms in case you get caught short and waste bag dispensers for when your dog needs a quick pit stop of their own. The park also has a fishing dock jutting out into the Banana River for public use!
To the south is Manatee Sanctuary Park. While you won't find any manatees living here, you will find a paved walking trail you and your dog can use to walk around the area and the large lake in the middle. There are multiple picnic pavilions, public restrooms, and acres of grass for you and your dog to romp about on. Here too, you will find that the city provides bags and receptacles to help keep the park clean for everyone.
