Top dog walkers in Yacht Haven
Wag! Walkers know Yacht Haven
The community of Yacht Haven consists of three separate fingers of land filled with upscale single-family homes at the end of South 4th Street. Each of the individual streets on these "isles" ends in a cul-de-sac. All the homes here sit on the waterfront thanks to a selection of artificial canals that run between each of the islands and have docks for mooring boats and going fishing.
The nearest grocery stores are less than five minutes away, close to the city offices and both the fire and police departments. One is just south of the Minuteman Causeway on South Orlando Avenue. The other is just north of the causeway on the same street. If you can't find everything you need here, it's only a ten-minute drive to the Publix supermarket on North Atlantic Avenue. There, you can find everything you need, including a pharmacy and food for the furry member of your family.
What is the terrain like in Yacht Haven?
The individual isles are densely packed and these are working neighborhoods, meaning that you will be dealing with traffic in the morning and evening during the rush hours. One of the benefits of living here is that, since none of the streets are through streets, this keeps traffic down to a bare minimum. However, during the school year, you can expect school buses to add to the traffic twice a day.
The one thing missing from this upscale community appears to be sidewalks for you and your pooch to make use of. This seems to be a recurring theme throughout the upscale communities in town. However, on the south side of South 4th Street, you will find a wide sidewalk that runs the length of the road all the way to South Atlantic. Once you cross over to the other side of South Atlantic, there is a public parking area with direct beach access.
How many greenways are there in Yacht Haven?
Since we are talking about the beach, let's go over the rules! The beaches in Cocoa Beach are open to dogs during a few select hours out of each day. Your dog must be on a leash at all times and pet waste receptacles have been provided at each crossover point, so you'll want to be sure that you use them or you may be subject to a $250 fine.
Alternatively, as you walk along South 4th Street, you will be walking right past the Ramp Road Park. This park has two playgrounds for younger children, tennis and basketball courts for everyone to use, and, of course, plenty of grass for you and your dog to run around on to get exercise as needed. Once again, please be sure you clean up after your dog and help keep the park clean! Most of these areas are pet-friendly and can remain that way as long as they are kept neat and tidy.
