Cocoa Pines is a small residential community set in the "V" created by the intersection of SR-524 and Cox Road. All of the homes are single-family houses with a lake in the center of the neighborhood. The houses in the area are upscale, set in a beautiful, well-kept setting with plenty of shade trees and sidewalks on both sides of the streets. Living this far out of town adds to the tranquility, but during the day, SR-524 is usually pretty busy.
One of the reasons for SR-524 staying busy is the Walmart Supercenter around the corner to the east on Clearlake Drive. This large store filled with everything from soup to clothes and bones for your dog is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Along with this, there is a Publix Supermarket and an ALDIs discount supermarket for you to shop at. All three of these stores and more are with a five-minute drive of your home.
Within Cocoa Pines, the neighborhood is very clean and well taken care of as you might expect in an upscale community. There are only four short streets in the neighborhood for you to walk on and little traffic to deal with. There is a small amount of congestion in the mornings and evenings, but there are still plenty of times during the day when you and your dog can get out and go for long walks together. The flat terrain in this neighborhood should make it easy to venture out, whether or not your pup has mobility issues.
For the more ambitious, outside of the community along SR-524, there is a wide paved walking path that takes you past the various stores like Publix and Walmart. From there, it continues for miles into town. Alternatively, you can use the sidewalk running along Cox Road to the north and you can enjoy a more tranquil walk.
On the other side of SR-524, there is a vast area of dense forest with at least one lake buried deep in the middle. You and your pooch should be able to find plenty of hiking trails running through the trees to explore. However, you should know there is a distinct possibility of coming across animals who live in the area, including alligators and black bears. Care should be taken and your dog should be kept on a leash for their safety.
Are you looking for a place to take your dog where they can run around off-leash? You are only a fifteen-minute drive from the Fay Lake Wilderness Park Off-Leash Dog Park. This park offers two vast fenced-in areas and there is plenty of room for your pooch to run around and play with the others. Along with this, there is a long nature trail that takes you along the shore of Fay Lake when you need to stretch your legs.
