Top dog walkers in Loring
Wag! Walkers know Loring
Loring is a single-family home community on Loring Street, branching off Clearlake Road just north of Dixon Boulevard. The houses here are well-established with plenty of shade trees on large lots and, on the west side of Clearlake Road, is Clearlake Middle School. While Clearlake Road might have numerous businesses along it, there are several residential neighborhoods where you and your pup can take your walks instead.
When you need supplies, there is a Sav-a-Lot less than five minutes away on Dixon Boulevard and a Harvey's Supermarket at the corner of Dixon and Clearlake. Both of these stores carry a great selection of food for every member of your family, including your four-legged friend. If you need more, there is a Walmart Supercenter less than five minutes to the north where you can find just about anything your family needs. The midday Florida heat may catch you off guard, however, so remember to keep some water handy when you explore!
What is the terrain like in Loring?
Loring is part of a large slice of suburban Cocoa. Like most older neighborhoods, there aren't any sidewalks for you and your dog to walk on and you will have to stick to walking on Loring Street. Traffic at the residential end of the street is minimal, but with a construction company on one side and an auto repair shop on the other side, the Clearlake Road end of the street tends to be busy during the business day.
Clearlake Road is a bustling thoroughfare with a wide variety of businesses along both sides of it. Both sides of the street are lined with sidewalks you and your pooch can use and the flat terrain makes this fairly easy, but keep in mind that during the business day, this road has a lot of traffic on it. Keeping your pooch on a short leash will help them feel more secure as you stroll in this area.
How many greenways are there in Loring?
There isn’t much in the way of usable green space within walking distance of Loring. The nearest dog park is on Pluckebaum Road. Aptly named Barks and Recreation, the park sits next to a large lake where you and your dog can go for long walks around the water. Inside the fenced-in area, there are separate sections for large and small breeds, each of which has plenty of shade, a puppy water fountain, and lots of places to sit.
If you and your dog don't mind the drive across the causeway to Cocoa Beach, you can go for long walks on the sandy dunes! Many of the beaches in the city are open to dogs during a few hours out of the day. The best time to go for long walks is during the early morning session. Not only is the temperature more appealing, but the sand is virtually empty!
