Viva P. Lapham is a small neighborhood nestled in the corner of US-1 and Factory Street. Along North Cocoa Boulevard, there are a couple of businesses in the community and, behind those, is Jefferson Avenue where there a few houses on the east side of the road. On the other side of the street is an area of grass and trees you can use to walk your dog and let them take a quick break. Be sure you clean up any messes!

For shopping amenities, you have no choice but to drive. The nearest Walmart Supercenter is on Clearlake Road, ten minutes to the north while the nearest Publix Supermarket is ten minutes to the south. Between these two stores, you should be able to find just about anything your family needs and that includes food, toys, and treats for the family member with the waggly tail.

Viva P. Lapham sits in an older part of town in an area that has more light-industrial and commercial properties than residences. Traffic in the area tends to be busy, with the worst of it being during the daily rush hours and when the school buses are running. Thankfully, someone saw fit to add sidewalks for you and your pooch to make good use of! They'll come in handy, especially considering that the flat terrain in the area makes it easy to get around.

The best thing you can do is plan your long walks for early in the morning. At this time of day, you won't have as much traffic to deal with and the temperature won't be too high, which your dog is sure to appreciate. Be sure your walks will take you further into the residential areas where it's quieter and stick to the sidewalks for added safety.

While there are plenty of residences in the area, you won't find much in the way of parks within walking distance. The nearest is Cocoa Riverfront Park and Lee Werner Park over on the Indian River. Between these two parks, there is plenty of grass for your dog to run around on.

For something different, hop in the car with your pooch and cruise over the East Merritt Island Causeway to the Kiwanis Island Park. The park sits on a large island on the north side of the causeway and offers lots of parking and vast areas of grass. The views of the river from all sides of the island are outstanding!

If you want to take your pup to an off-leash dog park, you'll need to head on over to Barks and Recreation on Pluckebaum Road in Rockledge. Your pup is sure to enjoy running around with other dogs their size in the right section of the park! This park even has water fountains to stay hydrated.
