Wag! Walkers know Cypress Cove At Pelican Bay
Cypress Cove at Pelican Bay is a small neighborhood of single-family homes located just east of S. Williamson Blvd. The community is surrounded by a waterway and the Pelican Bay Golf Course. This is a great community to retire in or to raise your family in which, of course, includes the four-legged furry member. If you want to eat out, plan on driving into the central part of town as there aren't any restaurants nearby. The same applies to pet supply stores.
Thankfully, no matter where you live, everything is only a short drive and you can always add it to your regular weekly shopping trips. With a golf course nearby, it should come as no surprise that the weather here is spectacular. You can golf all year round, even in January when the daytime temperatures are in the upper 40s! Summers are glorious with temperatures in the 90s and long days of endless sunshine.
What is the terrain like in Cypress Cove At Pelican Bay?
The base terrain here in Cypress Cove is typical suburbia with sidewalk streets and houses packed in close together. Walking your dog here can be pretty boring as you might expect from flat ground. But you can make your strolls together more interesting by going out of the neighborhood and out into the larger community.
The entire area is built around the golf course, but you may find that the golfers object to you and your dog going for walks out on the fairways. There are areas of woods on the other side of Williamson, but they are privately owned and not a good place to go which leaves you with nothing but streets and sidewalks to deal with.
Keep the outside temperature in mind as you go for walks as the pavement can heat up considerably when the sun is beating down on the streets. Protect your dog's feet with boots or head out earlier in the day.
How many greenways are there in Cypress Cove At Pelican Bay?
There is the large area of woods to the west and the golf course is nearby, but neither of these is open to you and your dog to go walking. Fortunately, the Tiger Bay Wildlife Management Area and Tiger Bay State Forest are only a short drive away. Here, you will find over 31,000 acres of prime forests, wetlands, and swamps for the two of you to enjoy.
The WMA is home to pine-palmetto flatwoods and cypress swamps of which some 15,000 acres were destroyed in the 1998 wildfires. Much of this damage has long since disappeared under new growth, making the area a fantastic place for you and your family to get out into nature and enjoy miles of trails that are open to hiking, cycling, and horseback riding. Please be sure you stick to designated forest roads and keep your pup on a leash to help protect them from encounters with local wildlife.
