The Golfs Edge Condo sits next to the Daytona Beach Golf Course and is a HUD-approved 55-plus community. The golf course and clubhouse are just a short walk away and you are only a 15-to-20-minute drive from the World's Most Famous Beach. Shopping is only a few minutes away at the Sunshine Mall where there is a Publix grocery store, a pharmacy, and more.
Living here puts you just far enough away from the heart of the city to enjoy a little extra peace and quiet, but close enough that you are only a short drive from many of the best restaurants in town, the Daytona International Speedway, the Volusia Mall, and Daytona State College.
If you like hot weather, you will love living here as it starts warming up in February and, by July, it's in the upper nineties where it will stay for weeks until it starts cooling down in late September.
The terrain here is a blend of golf course green and suburban blocks close to the Halifax River. It gives you and Fido an interesting blend of sidewalks and a small island off the riverbank. While you probably shouldn't take your pup walking on the golf course, you can still log in the miles walking around the different blocks, changing directions often to keep your walks interesting. Your pooch is sure to appreciate having new places to sniff at on their walks.
You might also want to consider sneaking across Ridgewood to the island out in the river. It will give both of you a place to run around, hang out on the beach, or cool off in the water. If you are going to take long walks with your dog, you should consider taking a collapsible water bowl and some water to keep them from becoming dehydrated during the hottest months of the summer.
We've talked about the golf course and the island. The only other nearby green space is the Samuel L. Butts Archeological Park a small aquatic and migrant waterfowl preserve located on the site where Butts discovered a cache of Timucua Indian artifacts and skeletal remains of a Wooly Mammoth from the Ice Age.
However, if you want room to run, the beach is only a few minutes away on the other side of the Halifax River. The beach runs for 23 miles in both directions and offers both soft sand that will help build muscles and stamina and easier walking in hard, wet sand that allows both of you cool down. Be sure you take the time to run around in the surf and let the water cool your feet and paws! Mornings are the best time to go walking as the beach is less crowded and the sand has not had time to heat up.
