Top dog walkers in Pine Forest
Wag! Walkers know Pine Forest
Pine Forest is a quiet neighborhood of single-family homes next door to the Shangri La manufactured home community. Living here puts you close to a WalMart Supercenter where you can pick up food, treats, and toys for your dog. There is also a Publix grocery store nearby as well.
If you want any type of park to take your dog to play in, you're out of luck as the nearest park is a bit of a drive away. The same applies to good places to eat as the nearest restaurants are either on Nova Road or over on International Speedway Boulevard. There is also an excellent selection of top-quality restaurants over on the beachside that are worth driving to.
You will love the summers here with long days of endless sunshine and temperatures in the 90s. Winters, however, are to die for with temperatures in the 50s and no snow to deal with at all!
What is the terrain like in Pine Forest?
The terrain here in Pine Forest is flat and suburban with plenty of blocks to walk around. The one thing missing seems to be sidewalks. Be sure you wear light-colored or reflective clothing to help motorists see you walking on the side of the road. There is a small lake in the community that you can use as a focal point for your walks.
Remember to test the temperature of the road before walking on it using the back of your hand. If you can't keep your hand there for at least ten seconds, then you shouldn't expect your pup to walk on it. Thankfully, at the southern end of the community, there is a large open area with plenty of room to run around. Just remember that during the hottest months, you should take your walks in the early morning before everything starts to heat up. Your dog is sure to appreciate it.
How many greenways are there in Pine Forest?
There is an open lot at the southern end of the community with plenty of trails to walk on and lots of shade trees. Beyond this, if you want more space to play or a dog park, it's going to be a bit of a drive.
The nearest dog park is at the Halifax Humane Society. The Community Dog Park offers sections for both smaller and larger dogs. Both sides have agility equipment for the dogs to play on, shady places to sit under while your pup plays with their buddies, and water fountains.
If you are looking for trails to hike, it's only a short drive to the Tiger Bay State Forest and Tiger Bay Wildlife Management Area where two of you can spend hours exploring miles of trails that thread through over 30,000 acres of magnificent forests, wetlands, and scrub. Be sure to pack some mosquito repellent as they grow big here!
