River Oaks Daytona Condo sits on the east bank of the Halifax River, offering spectacular city and ocean views. One of the greatest benefits of living here, beyond being 5 minutes from the beach, is that you are also within walking distance of a fantastic selection of restaurants serving up everything from pizza to Jamaican cuisine. Along with this, you are near the heart of the clubbing scene and the magnificent beach.
The one thing you won't find here is a dog park or much green space at all. As for shopping and pet supplies, a quick trip over to the mainland will take you to everything you could possibly need.
Most who live on the beachside are here for the long summers of 90 to 100-degree weather. Some come for the mild winters, but all who live here come for the love of the beach and the ability to get out and about 365 days a year.
The terrain around the River Oaks Daytona Condo is mostly residential with wide streets and plenty of sidewalks for you and your pup to use for your daily walks. There are a couple of vacant lots in the area that could be used to run around on, but keep in mind that they are privately owned.
If you are going to stick to walking on the sidewalks, remember to take your walks early in the morning during the summer months when things are still cooled down. However, you might be better off if you went over to the beach from time to time for your walks. The beach is a great place to give your legs and your dog's a good workout in the soft sand. After that, you can then take the easy way home on the wet sand, taking time to play around in the surf with your pup just for fun.
The biggest and only real green space here is the beach. With 23 miles included in the Greater Daytona Beach area, there is plenty of space for you and your dog to go for walks. The best time to do so is early in the morning before the beaches fill up with tourists. In the early mornings, the only people you are likely to find are other dog lovers taking their furry friends out for a walk.
If you are looking for a fenced-in dog park, the nearest one is over on the mainland. The Riviera Oaks Dog Park over in Holly Hill offers a separate section for small dogs to play in safely away from the bigger ones, watering stations in both sections, and plenty of shade for both dogs and humans to relax under. It also features a trail for walking, jogging, and cycling that runs around the lake.
