Wag! Walkers know Rowladers
Rowladers is a small neighborhood straddling Orange Avenue consisting of mostly single-family homes and the Mena Grocery store. Living here puts you close to City Island Park and Jackie Robinson Memorial Stadium where you can watch the Daytona Tortugas and the Bethune Cookman Wildcats play.
If NASCAR is more your game, then you are only a few minutes from the Daytona International Speedway, home of the Daytona 500. For those of you who like to eat out rather than cook, there are plenty of excellent restaurants within driving distance both on the mainland side and over on the beachside. As for parks and places to buy quality dog supplies, be prepared to drive a bit.
Come for the warm winters and stay for the hot summers! Temperatures range from highs in the upper 40s in January to the upper 90s in the summer. You won't find many days you can't get out and about for a walk.
What is the terrain like in Rowladers?
The terrain here is typically urban with plenty of residential blocks for you to walk around. The biggest problem here is that the ground is perfectly flat which, in and of itself, may not seem like it would offer much of a challenge. But it only has to be that way if you let it be!
The only way you can call the neighborhood and those around it boring is if you don't take the time to be creative. Otherwise, you are probably going to go around the same few blocks time and time again. If you're doing this, it's no wonder your pup doesn't seem too excited about going out for daily walks!
Remember that in the summer months, the pavement will be too hot by midday for your pup to walk on during the hottest months. Be sure to take your walks during the early morning hours when things are still cooled off from the night before.
How many greenways are there in Rowladers?
Over by Kottle, there is a small lake the two of you can walk around. There are also a few small parks scattered around the area, none of which are big enough for both of you to get in much exercise, but they will give your pooch a little grass to walk around on.
If you want more open space to jog or run, try cruising over the Orange Avenue Bridge to the beach! With soft and hard packed sand to walk on, the two of you can get in plenty of good exercise. Plus, you get the chance to run around in the surf!
Drive west on US 92 and the highway will take you to the entrance to the Tiger Bay Wildlife Management Area and Tiger Bay State Forest. There are miles of trails for the two of you to hike along while looking for as much of the local wildlife as you can find!
