St. Andrews Highlands is a neighborhood in the Pelican Bay gated community to the south of Daytona Beach International Airport and the Daytona International Speedway. The entire community is built around a golf course and a number of waterways.
There are many advantages to living in Pelican Bay but, unfortunately, having restaurants nearby is not one of them. If you want to eat out, your best bet is to drive into the main part of town where you will find a fabulous selection of restaurants serving just about every imaginable type of cuisine from around the world. There are parks within driving distance as you probably won't be welcome to take Fido for walks along the fairways.
If you are into golf, you will love the weather here! Summers in the 90s make for amazing golfing weather and winters in the 50s make it possible to play year round.
What is the terrain like in St Andrews Highlands?
The terrain here is a blend of golf course, suburban housing, and waterways. Thanks to the careful design of the community, there are plenty of sidewalks for you to use for your daily strolls.
You can stick to walking around the neighborhood or you can walk around the others nearby to extend your walks and log more miles. You might be able to walk on the fairways and the rough of the golf course, but you should probably take a look at your HOA handbook and the Golf Club rules. Remember to keep your pup leashed in these areas and clean up after them.
Do keep in mind that the concrete sidewalks and paved roads will be too hot for your pup to walk on during the afternoon in the summer. The best time of day to take your pup walking from May through October is in the early morning hours while things are still cool.

The WMA is home to thousands of birds, whitetail deer, black bears, iguanas, and a rather large collection of Florida's native predator, the alligator. You never know when you will see one sunning itself on a fallen tree or even in the middle of the trail.
Take your time, enjoy hiking the miles of trails with Fido, and remember to not feed the gators to avoid dangerous encounters with wildlife.
