Top dog walkers in Glenwood Reserve
Wag! Walkers know Glenwood Reserve
Glenwood Reserve is a very lightly populated area to the northwest of downtown Deland off of Grand Avenue. The few houses out here are substantially upscale homes with plenty of shade trees. Living out here gives you the peace of being out and away from the city while, at the same time, you are only a ten-minute drive from town. While you won't have many neighbors out here, in time, more homes are planned!
As for shopping, you and your family should be able to find everything you need in town. You will find a Walmart, a Winn Dixie, a Pet Supermarket, and plenty of great local businesses to shop at. The good news is that the majority of the stores are within a few blocks of each other, so you don't have to drive all over town to get everything you need. You will also find that Deland has an excellent selection of restaurants and bars to check when you get the chance.
What is the terrain like in Glenwood Reserve?
If you are looking for a home where the peace and quiet lasts virtually 24 hours a day, Glenwood Reserve would definitely make the list. Currently, the homes are surrounded by a vast area of woods and there is so little traffic that people here tend to notice when someone new goes by! The one thing missing is sidewalks to use for your walks. Luckily, with minimal traffic, you don’t have a lot to worry about as long as you keep an eye out for vehicles.
The terrain out here is mostly flat with hardly enough undulations in elevation to even notice. Thankfully, there are roads laid out for future development that you and your dog can make use of to add distance to your hikes. This is one of those cases where you have to trade distance for going up and down hills which may not be as exciting, but can definitely bring you to some interesting sights!
How many greenways are there in Glenwood Reserve?
Living here is like living in the middle of a giant green space. There are vast areas of woods in every direction for you and your pup to explore. There are a few trails here and there for you to use for your daily walks, but if you want more space to go hiking, the only option is to get in the car and go for a ride.
To the north is De Leon Springs State Park. It should take you less than ten minutes to get there, even on a busy day. The springs were once called the Acuera or "Healing Waters" by the Timucuan Indians. Today, the park has a lot to offer visitors including plenty of nature trails to hike along, places to go swimming and snorkeling, as well as opportunities for boating, kayaking, and fishing. People come here to birdwatch and walk their dogs! There is a fee for entrance, but it's minimal and well worth the cost.
