Halifax Court consists of two rows of townhouses off of West Marion Road and behind the Riverside Clinical Research Facility. Like many of the small townhome communities, the buildings face each other with a paved parking lot between them. US-1 is only one block east where you will find several excellent places to eat, including Alberto's Pizzeria, serving up an incredible selection of Italian dishes. You can walk to this restaurant from your home is less than five minutes.
However, if you are looking for people food or grub for the furry member of your family, there is a Winn-Dixie anchoring the Florida Shores Plaza shopping center that carries a huge selection of food and a large selection of doggy supplies. It is also home to the nearest Chick-fil-A and Dunkin Donuts. From your home, you can also walk your dog to the fields surrounding the Southeast Volusia Family YMCA. If nothing is going on, there are plenty of vast grassy areas for the two of you to enjoy.
Halifax Court starts out with a large paved parking lot between the two buildings. However, surrounding the condos are vast areas of grass and trees. West Marion Avenue can be a bustling road during morning and evening rush hours as those who live in the residential areas to the south head to and from work.
If you and your pooch get out early in the morning before rush hour starts, the roads to the east and in the Eastern Shores housing development offer both of you plenty of space to take long leisurely walks in the cool air. The flat terrain will make it easy for pups of any ability levels to do so. Mornings are almost always the best time of day to go for walks due to the temperature and lack of traffic. If you wait until the middle of the day, the paved roads may be hot enough to burn your dog's paws.
If you live in the Halifax Court townhomes, you have the distinct advantage of being next door to a large grass field that wraps around the east and north side of the buildings. It is divided in the middle by a strip of trees, but they won't affect your ability to play with your dog. However, remember all dogs must be on a leash unless they are in a private fenced-in backyard. Please remember to carry bags to clean up after your pooch.
Less than ten minutes walking time along US-1 to the north is Hawks Park and the Parks & Recreation office. The park offers lots of grass, paved walking trails, two small lakes with fountains, and public restrooms. Providing you keep your dog on a leash and carry bags with you, the two of you can have a lot of fun playing here in the sunshine and fresh air.
