Wag! Walkers know Beverly Terrace (Beverly Terrace Historic District)
The Beverly Terrace Historic District is a community of Mediterranean Revival style apartment buildings at the peak of the land boom. The original plan, developed by the Davenport & Rich Development Co., called for four apartment buildings to be constructed around a central fountain where Biscayne Blvd and 33rd St intersect. Only three were built and one of those was later demolished.
Today, the area is filled with small multifamily apartment buildings. The area is well-kept and the buildings lovingly restored and kept up. There are dog parks, pet supply stores, and a selection of restaurants all within easy driving distance. Most of the community has sidewalks for everyone to use with grass berms for Fido to use as a safe place to walk or go potty. Much like the rest of Miami, you can count on winter temperatures to stay in the 60s and summer temperatures to stick to the low 90s.
What is the terrain like in Beverly Terrace (Beverly Terrace Historic District)?
The terrain in the Beverly Terrace Historic District is essentially flat and offers little in the way of a challenge for experienced walkers. But if you and Fido are more experienced, it might be a bit on the boring side. The only way you can make your walks more interesting is to extend your walks out into the neighboring communities or find somewhere within a reasonable driving distance with trails and more challenging terrain to take your walks on.
Within this small community there really isn't anywhere to go with the exception of around the three blocks that make up the Historic District. Thankfully, there are three small parks to the north along the bay shore, one on one side of the I-195 bridge and two on the other side. While still not much of a challenge, there is at least a little grass for you to utilize on your walk.
How many greenways are there in Beverly Terrace (Beverly Terrace Historic District)?
Within the boundaries of the Historic District, there isn't much in the way of open space beyond a couple of empty lots. However, these lots are covered with grass and shade trees, making them a nice close spot to play on. If you want more than a small patch of grass, take a drive north on Biscayne Blvd and turn right on NE 55th. This will take you to Morningside Park. This is a nicely sized park with acres of grass and a trail that runs around the park for the two of you to do a little jogging. There are plenty of shade trees to relax and cool off under after your stroll.
Along with all this, the park also offers tennis courts, a basketball court, a baseball diamond, and a public swimming pool. Morningside Park makes a great place to bring the whole family for a picnic and a day out in the sun.
