Wag! Walkers know Cambridge Lawns
Cambridge Lawns is a small residential community of single-family homes located close to the University of Miami and the River Golf Course. The neighborhood also encompasses the Cambridge Lawns Historic District and part of the Brewer Canal and Brewer Park. This is a well-established residential area with homes ranging in price from $200,000 to $1 million. There are several pet supply stores within close driving distance. More importantly, there are no less than three dog parks within a few miles. Just a short drive over to US 1 will take you to an area with several restaurants offering up a wide variety of cuisine.
You will love the weather here with winters never getting much lower than the 60s during the day. If you think this is great, summers stay in the high 80s to low 90s, with the occasional rainstorm, providing ideal weather year-round for your daily strolls.
What is the terrain like in Cambridge Lawns?
The terrain here is typical of most areas of the city in that it is flat and suburban in nature. The streets are narrow and have no sidewalks for you and Fido to walk along. Without sidewalks, you are stuck to walking on the pavement. Be sure you wear reflective or light-colored clothing while strolling with your pup to help motorists see you, especially at night.
While there may not be any sidewalks, this shouldn't discourage you from getting and about. Try going down long stretches of blocks and back one day, zig-zagging around blocks another day, and up to Brewer Park on another day. Variety is the spice of life, or so they say, and the more you can change your routes, the less routine they will become. This will make it far easier to convince your pup that it's time to go out and get some exercise along with plenty of fresh air.
How many greenways are there in Cambridge Lawns?
There is not much in the way of greenways in the few blocks that go into making up the neighborhood of Cambridge Lawns beyond the 1/4-acre lots most of the houses sit on. There is, however, one small park in the northwest corner. Brewer Park may not be very big, but it does sit on the lake and offers two tennis courts, two handball courts, a basketball half-court, a tot's playground, and small areas of grass for a pup to sniff around on.
A few miles to the northwest is Tropical Park with lots of grass and trails for the two of you to enjoy. Better yet, the park is also home to the Bark Park Dog Park. The dog park is, like most, split into sections for small breeds and large breeds. There are places for you to sit in the shade while your pup runs around making new friends.
