There are two veterinary clinics located on the south side of the river that pet owners can easily access. There are also several pet stores in the region including the highly rated Animal Crackers Pet Supply on the northside of Bayfront Park. If you take your pup for a stroll in the park, you can then visit the pet store and pick your pooch up a trait or a toy for good behavior!
Good news for dog walkers is that Miami boasts warm temperatures all year round, so you don't have to layer up in warm gear for a stroll with your pet. When thunderstorms occur in warmer months, you may want to take shelter to avoid more severe weather.
Downtown Miami is a highly developed urban center with multi-story buildings, high rise office towers, apartments, and skyscrapers. There is limited landscaping in the region, however, tall buildings provide shade to streetscapes for you to hide under as you walk.
The terrain is flat and there are no steep hills to contend with when walking in the region. Sideways run along area streets, providing safe walkways, and intersections have crosswalks and signals. This is a heavily trafficked area and your dog should be used to vehicles, noise, and other pedestrians to be comfortable on walks in the downtown area.
Bayfront Park is a large popular waterfront park in the downtown neighborhood. This park has an amphitheater that host performances, open lawns, treed areas, and is interwoven with paved walking paths including the Baywalk Path. The Maurice A. Ferre Park on the north side of downtown is another large urban park with more open grassy areas and plenty of walking paths for dog walkers and their pets to enjoy.
There are numerous other smaller community parks in the downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods within walking distance. These parks have green spaces, shade trees, and walking paths with some recreational amenities. Try a few and pick you and your pup's favorite and most convenient to visit!
