Top dog walkers in Fair Isle
Wag! Walkers know Fair Isle
Fair Isle is a 20-acre island that sits just off the coast of the Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami. It is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the city with three towering condominiums, tennis courts, and a large marina. Many who live here take advantage of the exclusive marina facilities. On the island is one hotel, several small businesses, and one park. There is only one road on the island, so traffic is usually very mild. Although there are a couple of places to eat, just over the causeway is Coconut Grove where you will find an amazing array of restaurants to choose from.
The weather on Fair Isle is, of course, quite fair with winters rarely dropping below 60°F during the days and never a sign of snow to be found. Summers are awesome with highs in the low 90s and the occasional rain shower. You should be able to walk on most days!
What is the terrain like in Fair Isle?
Being an island covered in condos, there isn't much left in the way of terrain. The island is quite flat and there are plenty of small areas of grass in between the buildings. But these areas aren't going to give you much in the way of room to exercise. Thankfully, there is a walkway that runs all the way around the island. While the path is paved, there is grass running alongside it. This is the perfect place for you and Spot to get in your daily exercise.
Although walking around the island on the same path may not offer much in the way of variety, you can take your time and watch the ships coming and going and sailing by. You can also check out the windsurfers or simply stroll along and enjoy the fresh salty air. You can always go clockwise one day and counter-clockwise the next if you need variety.
How many greenways are there in Fair Isle?
Being an island out in the bay, there is only a limited amount of space available for greenways. Despite this and the fact there are three large high-rise condominium buildings on the island, the developers turned the entire eastern and southern side of it into Grove Isle Gardens. This is a wide band of grass and trees with a walking park running through it.
If you follow the trail from east to west along the southern tip, you will come across the Grove Isle Beach Tiki and BBQ, a walk-up eatery serving some very tasty barbecue dishes.
If you don’t mind the drive across the causeway, you are just a short drive from the Coconut Grove Dog Park. This a large fenced-in dog park where you can let your pup run around off-leash. This will allow them to socialize with other dogs and burn off plenty of that energy they have built-up.
