Park and has, in recent years, become extremely popular with college students and
the young professional crowd. It's an area filled with a fabulous selection of
bars, nightclubs, and lounges. Whether
you like classic rock, Mekka, Disco, or virtually any other type of music, you
can find somewhere playing it in Park West. The vast majority of the housing
here is either apartments or condos, meaning that much of the terrain is paved. Typically, there are a few vacant
spaces, but more importantly, Museum Park is just across Biscayne Blvd. to give
you and Roscoe a place to play.
Being right on the water means enjoying
glorious weather! Winters here are warm with January lows in the 60s and
mid-summer highs in the low 90s. Although it never snows here, the Miami area
gets approximately 59 inches of rain each year.
What is the terrain like in Park West?
The base terrain in Park West is a less than pleasant with nothing but pavement for you and Roscoe to walk on. If you are moving here from an area of the country where the two of you are used to walking on grass, you need to start out with short walks at first. This will give Roscoe's paws time to toughen up and build up a layer of callouses. If you try to push them too fast, the rough pavement can severely damage your pup's paws.
Walking around the block is an excellent way to get started, but if you don't mind going a bit further inland, you may find a few empty lots that you can use to give your pup's paws a break. The nearest greenway to Park West lies on the east side of Biscayne Blvd. Museum Park covers 30 acres. There are trails to follow, lots of grass to play on, and when Roscoe is not with you, an entrance to the museum itself. While you are in the park, you can check out the cruise ships coming and going or sit back on a shady bench and enjoy lunch while you watch the manatee and dolphins frolicking in the bay. Museum Park is also an excellent way for you and Roscoe to take part in one or more of the free yoga classes that take place.
Just to the north on Biscayne Blvd. is Margaret Pace Park. Inside this six-acre park is a fenced-in dog park split into areas for smaller and larger dogs. To help keep the park clean, there are waste bag dispensers located all over, encouraging you to explore the entire park together.
