Coconut Palms Resort sits right on the beach, making it possible to be out the door, on the sand, and in the water within minutes. Along with some of the best surf conditions in the area, Coconut Palms is close to several golf courses. There is also an excellent selection of great restaurants, bars, pubs, and clubs nearby. In addition, there are grocery stores and pet supply stores within minutes of your vacation resort!
The beach may be lined with condos and hotels, but on the other side of S Atlantic Ave, the area is almost completely residential. If you come here for the summer weather, your spectacular view of the sunset will turn into yet another 90-degree day of blue skies and humidity. If you come in the winter, expect temperatures in the 60s and 70s with plenty of sunny days for you and your pup to go for your daily walks.
The terrain here depends on whether you go out the front door heading west or the back door heading east. If you choose to head east, you will be on the beach where you can venture out onto the sand. The ups and downs of the dunes may provide some additional challenge if your pooch is particularly athletic or if you and they are more social and keen on meeting new people, especially when tourist season rolls around.
If you head west, you hit the residential area where you and your four-legged friend can take long walks around as many of the blocks as you feel comfortable with. These streets are much quieter, though you'll lack for grassy space to utilize as it's mostly private properties. Clean up after your pet if they happy to use the yards for their business and keep an eye out for the occasional passing car!
The biggest green space is, of course, the beach, which is the perfect place to take your pup for walks early in the morning before things start heating up and the beaches start getting crowded.
If you have a canoe or kayak, the Indian River Lagoon offers miles of waterways for the two of you to explore. However, until you learn your way around the waterways, you should probably have one of the locals with you to help find your way around without getting lost.
To the north at the end of the street lies Smyrna Dunes Park, one of the most popular dog-friendly parks in the county. The park offers five ecosystems for you and Fido to explore including saltwater marshes, dunes, river, ocean, and scrub zone. Along with nature trails to walk along, the beach is open to everyone, including your pup. Be sure you take advantage of this opportunity to go swimming!
