Wag! Walkers know Mill Run
Mill Run is a small manufactured home community on Pioneer Trail situated close to the New Smyrna Beach Golf Course. The neighborhood is nestled into a large tract of woods to the northeast. Just across the street is Otter Park North and just on the other side of the New Smyrna Beach Multi-Use Trail is Otter Park South, both of which have a lot to offer.
For those of you who like to eat out, there is an incredible selection of restaurants, both fast-food and family-style within a ten to fifteen-minute drive of your home. In fact, living here puts you within a fifteen to twenty-minute drive of just about any amenity you could possibly need, ranging from grocery stores to pet supply stores. There is even a dog park no more than ten minutes away with plenty of room for your dog to run around in on a hot summer day.
What is the terrain like in Mill Run?
The community itself is very quiet with the only traffic you are likely to see occuring during rush hours as people go to work or return home. There are sidewalks for you and your dog to go walking on which is much safer than the streets. The most pedestrian traffic you are likely to encounter is residents coming out to get their newspapers and mail.
The ground here is relatively flat and unexciting. The small size of the neighborhood means that, if you want more exercise, you should plan to go walking in some of the other nearby neighborhoods. You will find the same level of traffic in most of these neighborhoods that you have in Mill Run. However, most of them lack the amount of shade, making walking during the height of the day a bad idea as it is likely to be too hot for anyone to be out, let alone your pup.
How many greenways are there in Mill Run?
Between the neighborhood and Halleck Street to the east, there is a large area of woods where you and your dog can go walks in the shade. However, on the other side of Pioneer Trail is Otter Park North. The park offers plenty of trails for the two of you to hike on and a lake to walk around that your dog can go swimming in.
The park is bordered to the south by the New Smyrna Beach Multi-Use Trial. This trail is for everyone to use, including your dog! It runs from I-95 at the west end all the way into town at the east end. On the other side of the trail is Otter Park South where you and your dog will find even more trails to hike along and Turnbull Creek to walk alongside. This is an excellent way to remain cool while walking on a hot summer day.
