The Ocean Inlet Yacht Club sits on the Indian River close to the tip of the peninsula jutting out into the Ponce de Leon Inlet. Living here puts you close to the beach and Smyrna Dunes Park. However, if you want to eat out, it’s a ten-minute drive down to the central part of town where most of the restaurants are to be found. The good news is that there are a number of excellent restaurants serving an incredible variety of foods for you to sample. There is a Publix grocery store about ten minutes to the south where you can buy most premium brands of dog food. But if you want a pet supply store, it's back over to the mainland side where you will find a few.
Love the warm weather? Summers here are in the 90s while winters tend to be in the 60s and 70s. This is perfect for taking Fido out for a daily walk!
The terrain in the immediate vicinity of the condominium complex is mostly residential with blocks of houses and plenty of them for you and Fido to use for your daily walks. To the northeast is N Peninsula Avenue, which is a major road that should be avoided if you're not fully prepared to tackle the faster paced traffic that may veer through there on a day to day basis, especially during the busier months of tourist season.
The actual complex itself has a sizeable parking lot which can be handy for a quick step outside, but you'll want to watch for cars coming into or leaving the area. Luckily, there are some grassy spots along the curbs where you can stay out of the way of vehicles.
Crossing the main road will take you into a few adjacent neighborhoods, providing better walking opportunities that may be a bit easier on you and your pup.
Living in this neighborhood keeps you next door to one of the largest open spaces in the area. The beach runs from the point jutting out into Ponce de Leon Inlet southwards for miles. It offers you a great place to enjoy walks in the sun. You can walk in the soft sand or the wet sand, depending on the type of walk you're looking to get. Just remember that this area is not specifically meant for dogs to use. Keep your pup on a leash and clean up after them, especially when traversing the sandy dunes where others will be walking too.
A five-minute drive to the north takes you to Smyrna Dunes Park where you and your pooch can spend time hiking along the nature trails or hanging out on the beach together before going in for a nice cool dip in the ocean.
