For those who live in Saxon Court, you have the advantage of being within walking distance of the beach and the Mosquito Lagoon Aquatic Preserve. But, being further away from the beach means not having to deal with quite so much traffic and noise. However, you can expect a fair amount of daily noise during the school year as you are right next to Coronado Elementary School.
Like to eat out? There are a few places to eat within walking distance and many more for you to check out. One thing you may not like about living here is the lagoon's namesake. Yes, that's right, mosquito coverage here is pretty heavy and you need to make sure both you and your dog are protected from these nasty little buggers. Since it rarely freezes here and, when it does, only does so for a few days at a time, none of the insect population in the area ever dies off, especially mosquitoes.
"Oddly quiet" would be a good way to describe the area around Saxon Court when school is out. It might seem a bit odd for a community this close to the beach, but because of the way your home is tucked in between the aquatic preserve and the school, you are surprisingly well protected from traffic. Most of the traffic is over on S Atlantic Avenue, which helps make evenings a good time to sit back and listen to the waves lapping at the shore.
With several apartment communities in the nearby area and stores, you may find you get a bit of pedestrian traffic, but not enough that it should affect your walks. For the most part, you will find that the best time of day is in the early morning. This is before the streets fill up with tourists and the sun has not reached the point at which it's too hot to venture out.
One more great thing about living here is the sheer amount of green space you are lucky enough to live next to. On your doorstep is the Mosquito Lagoon Aquatic Preserve. The lagoon has its own pod of dolphins and is famous for the bottlenose dolphin with a prosthetic tail that was the basis of the movie Dolphin Tale. You can go out in the waters in a canoe or rowboat and watch the dolphins at play.
The other nearby vast green space is the beach. Here, you and your dog can walk, jog, or run for miles in either direction enjoying the hot summer sun and cool ocean breezes. The best part of this is that you can continue enjoying your walks together on the beach all year round as winter temperatures hover in the 60s and 70s during the daytime hours and in the 50s at night.
