South Riverside Place is a neighborhood of large exclusive homes sitting right on the west bank of the Indian River. Several of the homes have private docks jutting out into the river where the owners can dock their boats. You can see the Smyrna Yacht Club and Yacht Club Subdivision from your backyard if your home is on the riverbank.
Being on the water would normally mean living in a busy neighborhood, but because this is a more exclusive part of town, it stays relatively quiet. The cool breezes coming off the Indian River do help to keep things a little cooler here, but the difference during the summer months is not that noticeable.
Living here puts you close to a strip mall where there are places to eat and movie theaters. It also puts you close to the South Causeway that takes you over to the beach where you can spend hours going for walks!

Within the community itself, you aren't likely to see much in the way of traffic but being close to S Riverside Drive will bring it as this is one of the more popular roads to take when trying to avoid the crushing traffic on the freeway. Luckily, the only time Riverside becomes overly busy is during morning and evening rush hours. The traffic inside the community is limited to those who live in the area.
Most people take their dogs out for walks alongside the river on the strip of grass that runs from 6th Street northwards until it runs into Riverside Park. This is a beautiful place to take your dog for a walk thanks to the grass which is much easier for them to walk on. Along with this, you get to enjoy walking along and watching the boat traffic going by out on the river, all while still getting in your daily exercise.
How many greenways are there in SouRiverside Place?
Living here puts you at a bit of a disadvantage in that you don't have a lot of immediate access to green space to make use of. The wide strip of grass along the riverbank is an excellent place to take your dog for walks and, if you take it all the way to Riverside Park, there is plenty of grass for the two of you to play on.
Alternatively, if you have a boat, the two of you can cruise around the Mosquito Lagoon Aquatic Preserve and enjoy the scenery. You might even get to see the pod of dolphins who have been here for years along with several Florida manatees who live within the preserve.
