The Oceana Plaza Condominium Complex sits right on the beach, offering a spectacular view of the sunrise along the ocean horizon. Living in this condo puts you within a short drive of a major grocery store where you can buy most brands of dog food and supplies for yourself. Many of New Smyrna Beach's top restaurants are gathered just a few minutes away should you decide to dine out. As for dog-friendly parks, the nearest one is a ten-minute drive to the north where you will find Smyrna Dunes Park.
If you like it hot, then you are going to love the summers here with temperatures in the high 80s. The best part is the minimal amounts of rain. The winters are pretty nice as well with temperatures averaging in the 60s and 70s and even less rain to worry about. You and Fido should have no problem getting out for your daily walks!
Living in the Oceania Plaza Condo provides quite the array of walking terrain to experience with your pup. If you prefer to take your walks on paved surfaces, you will find plenty of residential blocks for the two of you to explore, including the condo's large parking lot, the sidewalks along S Atlantic Avenue, or the smaller streets around the surrounding neighborhoods.
The alternative is to make use of the beach. Here, you can take your walks on the soft sand if you are looking for a workout as this type of sand makes your leg muscles work hard with each step you take. Alternatively, you can walk on the wet sand and in the surf where the walking is much easier and you have the water to keep your toes cooled down. Either way, you'll want to determine which course is best depending on your dog's ability to handle visiting tourists or not.
The beach is the nearest and largest open space for you and Fido to enjoy. But if you prefer, a ten-minute drive to the north is Smyrna Dunes Park. This park is one of only a few county parks that is dog-friendly. The park offers five different ecosystems in one small area such as oceanfront, sandy dunes, saltwater marshes, riverbanks, and scrub zone. It also offers plenty of room for you to go for walks and play around. Both dogs and people are welcome to use the beach and go for a swim to cool off.
If your four-legged friend enjoys getting out on the water, then you can grab a canoe or rowboat and head out into the waters of the Mosquito Lagoon Aquatic Preserve. There are miles of waterways to explore, but the locals advise that you take someone with you who is familiar with the area, just to stay safe!
