Wag! Walkers know Venetian Condo
The Venetian Condominiums sit on the North Causeway main island alongside the Indian River North. The island sits halfway between the mainland and beachside, offering you the best of both worlds. Five minutes in either direction and you will be on the mainland or the beach. The island itself is a bit on the busy side as it houses one of the two thoroughfares that lead from the peninsula to the mainland.
There is a small park at the eastern tip of the island, a public boat ramp, and a restaurant. The island also offers the only way to reach the Marine Discovery Center. Once you cross over to the beachside, the causeway becomes historic Flagler Avenue. This is a fun street for those who like to shop in quaint stores and boutiques. It's also where you will find an excellent selection of bars and restaurants to satisfy practically any tastes.
What is the terrain like in Venetian Condo?
The North Causeway is a bustling road that never seems to stop. The daytime traffic is heavier, especially during rush hours and tourist season. Thankfully, the condos sit back a block from the main road, which helps keep the amount of traffic on East Circle Drive to something a little more manageable.
There are plenty of sidewalks on the island for the two of you to take your walks on. Most have grass on at least one side so you can stay on the sidewalk while your dog enjoys walking on the grass. If you are brave enough, there are protected walkways all the way over to the beachside and the beach. It's really not that far and gives you the opportunity to go walking on the sand together. Do keep in mind that the beach tends to be very busy during the day, so the best times of day to go walking is in the early mornings.
How many greenways are there in Venetian Condo?
The island has a small park at the northern tip, but it's not much more than a small patch of grass and concrete paths. It also has a fishing dock for public use. The nearest large green space is the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. There are multiple entrances to this 1,637-acre nature preserve where you and your dog can enjoy the six-mile hike to Rose Bay and back or you can just enjoy hiking along the various trails.
To the east is the waterfront and beach, both of which are just waiting for you and your dog to show up for your early morning workout. When you've had enough of the soft sand that makes walking difficult, you can both use the firm, wet sand for the return journey and the nearby waves for a nice cooling swim when the temperature gets a bit too hot.
