Top dog walkers in Marineland
Wag! Walkers know Marineland
Marineland is a tiny community just to the north of Palm Coast and built around the Marineland Adventure Park. Here, you can learn about these fantastic animals, watch a show, and learn about the estuarine system that helps shelter many forms of marine life while helping to clean the water. Along the southern border of the community is a small number of larger homes. The nearest dog parks are just down A1A, but for shopping, dining, and pet stores, you must either drive further north to St. Augustine or go back down into Palm Coast.
One of the greatest things about being here is that the beach is at the end of the block where you and your dog can go for long walks in the surf. You should be aware that the summer temperatures are high enough to heat the streets and the sand to the point of being hot enough to burn your pup's paws.
What is the terrain like in Marineland?
This residential area is nestled in the middle of a dense live oak forest. With larger yards backing onto the woods and the Matanzas River on the west side with the Atlantic Ocean on the other, this is a beautiful place to call home. The land here is flat, but the road through the community is wide enough for you and your puppy to walk along safely. You can go hiking in the groves but be sure to wear plenty of mosquito repellent and keep a watchful eye out for the wildlife within the wooded areas.
The beaches offer a completely different type of terrain and tend to have long runs of soft dunelike sand for a more intense workout or wet hard-packed sand that is easier on your feet. Keep in mind that the sands can get hot enough to burn both your feet and the pads of your pup's paws very quickly so come prepared.
How many greenways are there in Marineland?
The tiny community is surrounded by miles of live oak woods, wetlands, and waterways. The beach is more than just sand. There is a broad scrub brush and grass barrier between A1A and the beach.
Just down the road is Washington Oaks Groves Park where there are plenty of biking and hiking trails for the two of you to walk along. However, you must keep your pet on a leash at all times and no pets are allowed on the beach. The trails encompass 1.7 miles, taking you through the natural coastal maritime hammock and into the densely canopied scrub.
To the west lies the Pellicer Creek Corridor Conservation Area that covers over 2,500 acres and includes miles of trails for biking, hiking, and taking your pooch out for lovely nature walks. You can even camp out in the primitive campground as long as you obtain a permit from the Flagler County Clerk's Office.
