Wag! Walkers know Amber Village
Sitting directly opposite the Sugar Mill Elementary School
on Charles Street is the neighborhood of Amber Village. This triangularly shaped community is filled with modest houses and families who
have children of all ages. One reason people choose to live here is the relative
peace and quiet the area offers. While
you are close to the central part of town, you are just far enough away from it
to not have to deal with the constant noise and traffic.
For essential amenities, Dunlawton Avenue is one minute to the
south and is home to the vast majority of stores, shops, and shopping centers
in town. Along this road, you and your family should be able to find just about
anything you need.
There are parks nearby and
nature preserves within twenty minutes of your home. The beach is even closer
and is a great place to take the family for some fun in the sun and the family dog
for long walks!
What is the terrain like in Amber Village?
Amber Village is a tight-knit community where most of the
homes have plenty of kids, dogs, and everything else that goes with a family neighborhood.
All streets have sidewalks for the two of you to use for your daily walks. Unfortunately, there isn't much in the way of
shade to help keep the sun off your back.
You and your pup may want to avoid going for walks during morning
and evening rush hours as the streets here tend to be bustling during these
times. Thankfully, the heaviest traffic
only seems to last about an hour at each end. The
rest of the day, you'll only need to keep an eye out for other pedestrian traffic and the many
kids who live here and like to play outside. A short leash is the best way to keep
your dog under control and everyone safe.
How many greenways are there in Amber Village?
If you take McDonald-Madeline Road to the west, it will lead you to the woods at the bottom of
Reed Canal Park. The park also offers a small lake you can walk around with your
dog and a vast area of grass to play around on. This
is a trendy place for people to bring
their dogs to play, but you'll need to keep them on a leash.
Ten minutes to the south is the only dog
park in town. The Seemore Memorial Dog Park is a one-acre park with three different
play areas. Access to two of them is based
on size and the third one is for dogs with special needs. There are watering
stations in each area and benches in the shade for you to hang out on.
Ten minutes to the east is the beach. Early mornings are a fantastic time to get out on the sand with your pooch in tow. Beat the heat and enjoy this large greenway with your furry friend!
