Top dog walkers in Anglers
Wag! Walkers know Anglers
Anglers is a triangular-shaped community on South Ridgewood Avenue, halfway between Dunlawton Avenue and South Nova Road. Living here puts you in a centralized location with access to the many essential amenities such as grocery stores and places to buy dog food for your furry friend. It also puts you across the street from the All Aboard Flea and Farmer's Market and one block from the Halifax River where there is a grass walkway for you and your dog to take your daily walks on.
There are parks, nature preserves, and the beach all within a short drive of your home. All of these offer different environments for you and your dog to hike in.
Port Orange offers some great walking weather. Even in mid-January, you and your dog can go out for walks! The only thing you have to worry about is a little rain and some cooler weather from time to time.
What is the terrain like in Anglers?
South Ridgewood Avenue is one of the main roads through town and, in certain areas, is packed with business. Traffic here is bustling from early in the morning, throughout the day, and far into the night. During rush hours, the amount of traffic tends to border on the ridiculous. If you can, plan your walks for any other time and keep them back in the neighborhoods around you rather than on South Ridgewood which, at this point, is also known as US-1 and A1A, all of which combine to add to the traffic.
The land here is mostly flat with what little changes in elevation being barely noticeable. Most of the neighborhoods around here are, sadly, lacking in sidewalks, meaning that you and your dog will be walking on the roads. Be sure you wear light-colored clothing to help motorists see you during the later hours and keep your dog on a short leash for added safety.
How many greenways are there in Anglers?
The one thing missing around the area is much in the way of useable green space. The closest is the Father Smith Complex, a small athletic facility with tennis courts and a softball field where there is room for you and your dog to play on.
If you walk one block to the east, not only will you be at the Halifax River, but there is a nice wide grassy berm for you and your dog to use for your daily walks that run for miles in either direction. It makes a nice change from walking on the pavement!
A little to the west on Commonwealth Boulevard is Margaret Buschman Parcel and the Buschman Park. Both combine to offer a vast area of woods filled with walking trails and a lake you can hike around in the fresh air. Bring the family, a picnic, your pup, and spend the day together having fun!
