Top dog walkers in Countryside
Wag! Walkers know Countryside
The community of Countryside is split by Dunlawton Avenue running west to east. The most extensive section of this residential community is south of it with only one small area of houses to the north. Both areas are beautifully crafted neighborhoods with lakes and some grass for you and your dog to walk on, especially around the water. The northern section is next door to the Port Orange City Center and the City Sports Complex where you can walk your dog along the trail and into the sports fields.
Straddling Dunlawton is the shopping centers that include a Publix Supermarket, a Pet Supermarket, and many other stores. There are several restaurants here for you and your family to check out and a Walmart Supercenter less than five minutes west.
If it's starting to sound like Dunlawton Avenue is an important road, that might be because it is! Along with being the central shopping district, it goes all the way east to the Atlantic coast and west to the I-95 interchange.
What is the terrain like in Countryside?
Within each of the various neighborhoods in Countryside, the traffic is minimal with the exception of rush hour which can generate a lot of traffic. The good thing is that once you know exactly when these busy times are, you can easily adjust your walks to avoid hustle and bustle. Your pup is sure to enjoy walks that aren’t filled with the constant stink and noise of traffic.
During the school year, you must also factor in the times when the school buses are running. Along with causing some traffic backups, they also create a significant amount of pedestrian traffic as children, families, and other dogs may crowd the streets on their way to or from school. Keep an eye out for any particularly rambunctious kiddos and choose alternate routes to avoid them if your pup is at all nervous around small children. The flat terrain in this area should make it easy to find a variety of walking options.
How many greenways are there in Countryside?
Both communities have multiple lakes that you and your dog should be able to access. As for parks, only the northern section is close to one. For those who live in this section, the City Center offers a small lake with a walking trail around it and, just to the north, is the City Center Sports Complex and athletic fields. There is a walking trail you can take to get there and the fields offer a vast play space unless they are in use.
For those in the southern half, the Seemore Memorial Dog Park is less than ten minutes away. The trip is worthwhile as the park offers sections for both large and small dogs, plus an extra one for dogs with disabilities, injuries, or who are too old go in the main sections. Each area has a watering station for the pups at play and benches in the shade.
