If you ask those who already live here, Harbor Oaks Bay Shore is one of the top places to live in the entire area. Not only does this coastal community sit right on Rose Bay, but it is also conveniently close to some of the best shopping in Port Orange. There are several excellent restaurants and pubs both within the community and within easy driving distance. While there are several pet supply stores and groomers in the near vicinity, if you want to find a dog park, you will have no choice but to drive to one. Like many of the communities in Port Orange, there aren't any sidewalks for you and Rover to use, but you should still be able to walk around this community safely. Keep in mind that the summers here can be too hot for your dog to be out during the hottest parts of the day.

Tucked in the corner of S. Ridgewood Ave and S. Nova Rd, the ground here is very flat, much like the rest of the city. If all you are doing is taking your pup for a walk so they can do their business, you should have no problem doing nothing more than walking around the community. But, if you and your pooch are looking for a more challenging walk, you must be ready to jump in the car and go for a ride because the next best place for the two of you to go for a challenging walk is on the beach. While Daytona might still be getting all the credit for having a beautiful beach, the beaches in Wilbur-by-the-Sea have a lot to offer regarding sandy dunes and cool water for the two of you to chase each other around on and in, providing plenty of opportunities for exercise.

Beyond the trees and yards in Harbor Oaks Bay Shore, there isn't much in the way of green space in the immediate area. To the east and in the middle of the Halifax River/Intracoastal Waterway are vast areas of protected islands. But if you want green spaces that you and your pup can go hiking in, you can either head over to the beach where the soft sands can make your hikes as challenging as the wet sands don’t. Both of these offer their own form of a challenge when going for a walk. One of the great things about walking along the beach is that you can walk as far as you want or keep your walks nice and short. Be sure to keep your eyes on the sands as not only can they be tricky to navigate, but you never know what buried treasures you might stumble upon during your walk.
