While your home here is at the southernmost point of town on the west side of the interstate, this doesn't mean you're out in the middle of nowhere. Although the tranquility that comes with living here will make you feel like it, Dunlawton Avenue, the central shopping district, is only five minutes to the north. Along this strip of highway, you will find several shopping centers, supermarkets, superstores, and pet supply stores where you can stock up on goodies for your dog.
What is the terrain like in Sawgrass Bluff?
With only two luxury homes in the neighborhood, there isn't much traffic. However, since the driveway to both houses sits on South Williamson Boulevard, you should be prepared to deal with some when exiting the area. With Spruce Creek Fly-In and surrounding communities just to the south, rush hours are particularly hectic in neighboring regions. There is a wide paved sidewalk running along both sides of South Williamson, but unless your dog is used to walking close to heavy traffic, you may want to limit their exposure.
You can cross the road and go into the residential neighborhoods nearby or go north to the entrance to the one next door. Both offer you a much safer alternative to taking your entire walk along the busy highway. Once your dog becomes more comfortable with the traffic, you may be able to go for walks along the flat road to the south as the view is nothing short of spectacular!

You and your dog can walk for miles within the borders of this 1,637-acre nature preserve.
If you want more room to roam, you can take South Williamson north to US-92 and then go west to the Tiger Bay Wildlife Management Area. The WMA covers over 30,000 acres of forests, wetlands, swamps, and scrubland. There are miles of trails running throughout the WMA where you and your dog can walk to your heart's' content. Be sure you carry lots of water and an ample supply of your favorite mosquito repellent! Muggy Florida weather has a tendency to attract them in droves!
