Wag! Walkers know The Cove
The Cove neighborhood sits on Spruce Creek Road close to Central
Park Boulevard and is a small manufactured housing community. However, this is not a
mobile home park. These are modular homes set on single building lots
surrounded by trees. The neighborhood sits on Cove Court and Galien Court. Essentially a cul-de-sac community, this is a tranquil place
to live that is far enough away from the heart of town to enjoy the quiet, but
close enough for you to reach essential amenities in less than ten minutes by
car.
Whether you choose to follow Spruce Creek Road to the north or turn left from Spruce Creek onto Taylor Road, both
will take you to the central shopping district of Port Orange. Here, you will
find a Walmart Supercenter, a Publix Supermarket, a Petco, a Pet Warehouse, and
dozens of other stores and restaurants for you and your family to check out. `
What is the terrain like in The Cove?
This is a very peaceful neighborhood with only a small amount
of traffic during the morning and evening rush hours. During the school year, you and your pup may also encounter
school buses full of noisy kids. As a family-friendly
community, the two of you are also likely to meet
lots of other pedestrians in the area, which may be something you'll want to avoid if your dog isn't one to meet and greet others as they stroll by.
There is no steep terrain in this neighborhood which makes it a very walkable area, though more athletic pups may need to find some alternative outlets for their energy. some of the nearby parks or greenways may also present some small variations in terrain which can provide a great avenue for exercise. Otherwise, this area is great for pups with mobility issues or those who are just learning to walk on a leash.
How many greenways are there in The Cove?
Within the Cove, there
are plenty of shade trees and sidewalks, but the nearest parks are just to the north
at the corner of Spruce Creek Road and Central Park Boulevard. Here, you will find the
All Children's Park. This is a vast
park with a themed playground that kids
love. There are two massive softball fields for you and your dog to run around on,
tennis courts, a small lake, and plenty of woods to keep everyone nice and cool
on those hot summer days.
Next door is the Seemore Memorial Dog Park. Nestled under
the shade trees, this dog park provides three sections small dogs, large dogs, and one for pups with special needs. Each
area has a water fountain to keep the pups hydrated and shady benches for their owners to
sit on while they play. Just remember to clean up after your pet!
