Top dog walkers in The Settings
Wag! Walkers know The Settings
The Settings is a small residential neighborhood of single-family homes on Taylor Road. If you have elementary age kids, you can walk them to Spruce Creek Elementary School as it’s only a couple of blocks west on Taylor Road. For your older teens, Spruce Creek High School is just a mile away on the same street. The only school your kids will have to ride the bus to is Silver Sands Middle School.
Taylor Road will take you to Spruce Creek Road which, in turn, takes you to South Nova Road and onto Dunlawton Avenue if you turn north and to the local dog park if you head to the south. On Dunlawton Avenue, you will find the central shopping district for the City of Port Orange. All the big box stores, major grocery stores, and pet supply stores are located on this stretch of road and are within a ten-minute drive of your home.
What is the terrain like in The Settings?
The only real traffic you have to deal with in this community is residential. Since the middle school is beyond walking distance, you will have the school buses to deal with during the school year as well. However, Taylor Road tends to be busy during rush hours, school hours, and during most of the day. Inside the neighborhood, there are sidewalks with grass berms for you and your pup to make use of for your daily walks instead of the nearby busy thoroughfares.
There are a couple of lakes where you can also walk around and there is a sidewalk running the length of Taylor Road. To the south, there are several more residential neighborhoods you and your dog can use to add more distance. Be sure you keep your dog on a short leash for safety and that of the kids who are only too happy to run up hoping to pet your pup!
How many greenways are there in The Settings?
There isn't much in the way of usable green space close to your home in the Setting, with the exception of the two lakes and the grass around the community. The nearest green spaces are to the south. These are the All Children's Park and Seemore Memorial Dog Park. You can be at either of these parks within five minutes.
The All Children's Park offers a pirate-themed playground, lots of woods and trails to explore, and vast athletic fields. The park also offers a small splash park that is open during the warmer months of the year and picnic pavilions for your whole family to enjoy.
The Seemore Memorial Dog Park covers an entire acre and is divided into three sections. These include the usual small and large dog areas and a special place for dogs who have special needs. Each of the areas has a place for dogs to get water and plenty of shade for you to relax in.
