The Trailwoods Condominiums sit along South Nova Road, one mile south of Dunlawton Avenue where you will find the central shopping district.
The condos feature large areas of grass around them that will provide some room to take your dog walking and there are plenty of shade trees to help keep you cool. The Spruce Creek Animal Clinic is just across South Nova Road, offering a full range of veterinary services and special diet foods for your pup, if necessary.
While there isn't much in the way of green space nearby for you and your dog to make use of, there are a couple of lakes and retaining ponds across the street and down Miles Drive. They have walking paths around them the two of you can use for a change of pace. There are, however, several places you can take your dog for walks within a reasonable distance.
Living on South Nova Road means being right next door to one of the busiest north-south highways in town. Not only are there dozens of businesses along both sides of the road, but the highway runs from far to the north of Ormond Beach where it joins US-1 and to the southern tip of Port Orange. Given the amount of traffic that continuously runs on this road, it is not the best place to walk your dog if they are not used to the hustle and bustle of traffic.
However, there is a broad sidewalk running along the road that is very popular with walkers, joggers, and other pedestrians. Most try to get out before the traffic becomes too noisy for it to be enjoyable. Getting out before rush hour begins also allows you to enjoy the fresh cool air. If you wait too long, it might be too hot to go out!
Beyond the lake on the other side of South Nova Road, if you want to take your dog to a green space to play or go hiking, the first step is going to be a ride in the car. From your home in Trailwoods Condo, it's only a fifteen-minute drive to the beach. Go ahead and pull out on the sand, find yourself a spot to park, and get ready to enjoy the best local amenity! You and your dog can hike as far as you can handle in this sunny locale.
Are you looking for an off-leash dog park? The Seemore Memorial Dog Park is less than five minutes south on Spruce Creek Road. The park covers an entire acre and has three fenced-in areas, including an extra space for pups with special needs or disabilities. Each area has water for the dogs and shady benches for you to sit on while your pooch gets plenty of exercise.
